Bye Bye, DiFi: Dianne Feinstein Will Not Seek Reelection In 2024
California Senator Dianne Frankstein announced Tuesday she will not seek reelection in the next year. This opens up for what is likely to be a fiercely contested Democratic primary.
“I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024, but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends,” Feinstein, 89, said it in a statement.
California Reps. Katie Porter and Adam Schiff (D. Already Announcement their intention to run for Feinstein’s seat in 2024. Nancy Pelosi, former House Speaker (D.), has already endorsed Schiff.
Rep. Barbara Lee (D. To be expected Porter said last week that Feinstein should be replaced by a woman of color.
In recent months, Feinstein has been under increasing pressure to resign. The San Francisco Chronicle reported Three Democratic senators, along with a group ex-Feinstein staffers, said that Sen. Feinstein was cognitively impaired and could not serve her term.
