In a recent commentary, Byron York, the chief political correspondent for the *Washington Examiner*, expressed the expectation that New York Attorney General Letitia James will continue to find innovative ways to pursue legal action against Donald Trump. His prediction comes after James successfully won a civil fraud case against Trump, resulting in a significant financial penalty and restrictions on his business operations in New York. Despite these legal challenges, Trump has seen a rise in campaign support, culminating in a victory in a recent election. York highlighted James’s commitment to undermining Trump, indicating that she may utilize her office’s resources creatively in future endeavors against him.
Byron York predicts Letitia James will get creative to ‘destroy Trump’
Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York predicted that New York Attorney General Letitia James will get “creative” in her next conceivable prosecution of Donald Trump.
Months have passed since James won her civil fraud case against Trump, when a judge ruled he and his sons had inflated the assets of Trump International to their business partners. All were made to pay a fine and are since precluded from conducting business in the state of New York. Since the win for James, Trump gained additional support as donations to his campaign increased and he ultimately won the Nov. 5 election.
GREATEST COMEBACK? HERE’S HOW TRUMP STACKS UP IN WHITE HOUSE HISTORY
“Letitia James, the attorney general of New York, who sued Trump, won a $450 million verdict, now under appeal, but has pledged in her campaigns to try to destroy Trump, and that is certainly what she was trying to do in the lawsuit,” York said on Fox Report with Jon Scott Saturday. “I would imagine she’ll keep trying, and it’s a pretty creative office. Maybe they’ll think of something else to go after Trump during his next presidency.”
York further predicted that Democratic governors will “put a crowbar on the spokes of the wheel of the Trump administration.” For example, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) called a special session, seeking to establish legislation that will preemptively thwart Trump’s agenda for the country on matters of immigration, abortion, and climate change.
James’s term ends in New York in 2027. She has served as the state’s attorney general since 2019.
