CJ Stroud is expected to be one the two first quarterbacks chosen in the upcoming NFL Draft. Despite rumors that he might return to Columbus, the Ohio State quarterback decided against it.
Stroud, a four star prospect in the Class 2020, was named the Buckeyes’ starting pitcher in 2021. They won the Rose Bowl with an 11-2 season. He continued the success with a 11-2 season in 2022 but was defeated in the Peach bowl.
Stroud showed why he is a great NFL quarterback, but his second year was less successful than his first. Stroud, a 6-foot-3, 218-pound dual threat quarterback, completed 5% fewer passes for 800 yards and three touchdowns.
Stroud had a great year, but his numbers were just below 2021. As with all things, there will always be people who focus only on the negatives, such as the loss to Michigan. Instead of seeing the whole picture.
Stroud deleted all his social media accounts prior to the season in order to avoid having to deal with these people. He wasn’t on Twitter. He wasn’t even on Instagram. And he wasn’t on TikTok. It was all ball all the time.
Stroud’s fans and haters didn’t stop them from trying to reach him via social media.
CJ Stroud-haters found creative solutions.
During Jim Rome in conversationStroud said that Venmo users were harassing his account. They found his profile and sent him money.
My teammates and I know that Ohio State has every type of technology or source of social media. So, man, I was getting DMs—I don’t have social media throughout the season—I was getting DMs on Venmo, the money app, from fans telling me, ‘Play better,’ things like that.
— CJ Stroud on his haters
CJ Stroud doesn’t care about money. He is happy to get paid to have people say nasty things. It is both amazing and terrifying to see how far fans will go in order to get their point across. College football is completely normal!
