Caddie at Pebble Beach Celebrity Pro-am Collapses, Given CPR on Course

The caddie of an amateur player in AT&T Pebble Beach Celebrity Pro-Am fell on Friday. CPR was administered to him.

After the caddie fell, play was stopped on the 11th fairway for nearly an hour. As CPR was being continued, an ambulance arrived on the scene and the caddie was transported to a nearby hospital. The name of the caddie is not known.

Friday evening’s scary scene was acknowledged in a statement by the PGA. It stated in part:

“During the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, there was a medical emergency at No. 11 at Pebble Beach involving an amateur’s caddie. The caddie has been rushed to Montage Health for evaluation.”

The caddie was working as an amateur in a group that included pros Max McGrevy and Beau Hossler.

The caddie was transferred to the hospital and the group resumed their play.

“At the direction of the PGA Tour Rules Committee, the players in that group paused play during the medical emergency and will be allowed to warm up and resume their rounds shortly,” The PGA’s statement added. “We will provide additional details when available.”

According to an ESPN report, Lukas Nelson, a musician, was also present when the caddie fell. After the round, Nelson revealed to ESPN that the caddie had been ill. “doing better.”

AT&T’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am continues this morning at 9am PST and concludes on Sunday. Kurt Kitayama currently leads the leaderboard (-9), while four golfers (Hank Lebioda Keith Mitchell, Brandon Wu and Joseph Bramlett), are tied for second (-8).
