A California girl raised thousands of dollars for a homeless man who found and returned her grandmother’s wallet.
Last month, 80-year-old Evelyn Topper bought coffee at a shop in San Rafael, California and drove home. After, she realized she had misplaced her wallet.
She later received a call from Sean Currey, a homeless man living out of his car nearby, who returned the wallet to Topper with its contents intact.
After hearing the story, Topper’s 12-year-old granddaughter wanted to repay Currey’s kindness and raised close to $500 for him.
“I’m humbled, I’m just blessed,” Currey said. “It’s hard to express words for it. I’m at a loss. I’m warmed by it, 100 percent.”
Her mother took the giving a step further, starting a crowdfunding account to create housing for the nearby homeless community, which has now raised over $32 thousand.
