California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has finally taken a stand against crime in the Golden State.

During a press conference on Friday, Newsom unveiled a multi-million-dollar program to combat a slew of public safety crises, including the surge in smash-and-grab robberies in his state. The program includes $250 million in grants to local law enforcement agencies to combat these crimes and establishes a prosecutorial task force out of the California Attorney General’s Office.

More than $20 million is set to go towards the state and district attorney offices for prosecutorial efforts. The plan also aims to provide assistance to small businesses that were damaged from the smash-and-grab robberies.

Additionally, he finally addressed Joe Biden’s border crisis.

“We are also providing $20 million specifically for border issues. I’m very concerned as a parent,” said Newsom. “I’m very concerned as a citizen of the state and someone who is highly in tune with what’s going on with drugs in the United States, not just here in the state of California, but what’s happening with fentanyl. And we have seen some success with our National Guard at the border working in partnership to address the issue of these transnational activities.”

However, Newsom went on to rollout his controversial gun control proposals, including gun buyback programs and legal attacks against gun manufacturers. Newsom claimed these are first of its kind proposals and believes his efforts will slow down crime.
