California High School’s football games canceled due to Maui fires.
Wildfires in Maui Impact Edison High School’s Football Team
It didn’t take long for the devastating wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui to have an impact on the Edison High School’s varsity football team in Huntington Beach, California.
The team had been eagerly preparing for their nine-day visit to Maui, scheduled to depart on August 10. However, due to the fire damage in the coastal town of Lahaina and other areas on the island, their trip has been unfortunately canceled.
Disappointment and Adjustments
The Chargers were looking forward to their scheduled games on August 12 against Baldwin High in Wailuku and August 14 against another opponent. However, these games will no longer take place as planned.
While the team is disappointed, they understand the importance of prioritizing safety and supporting the affected communities. The decision to cancel the trip was made with the well-being of everyone involved in mind.
Supporting Maui from Afar
Although the team won’t be able to physically be in Maui, they are exploring alternative ways to show their support. They are considering fundraising efforts or sending messages of encouragement to those affected by the wildfires.
Despite the setback, the Chargers remain resilient and determined to make the most of their upcoming season. They are already looking forward to future opportunities to visit Maui and showcase their skills on the football field.
