A Marine Charged with Sexual Assault of a Minor at Camp Pendleton
A shocking incident has unfolded at Camp Pendleton involving a Marine who has been charged with the sexual assault of a minor. The incident came to light on Aug. 11, when authorities made the announcement.
The victim, a 14-year-old girl from Spring Valley, was reported missing by her grandmother on June 13, as revealed by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. After an intense search, she was eventually found on the base approximately two weeks later.

The Marine, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on June 28 and subsequently questioned by Naval Criminal Investigative Services. However, he was released pending further investigation.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 17, during which evidence will be presented and a decision will be made regarding whether the case will proceed to court-martial. Additionally, the Marine faces charges of violating liberty restriction, which Camp Pendleton officials state are unrelated to this incident.
The victim’s aunt, Casaundra Perez, has come forward and shared that her niece has learning disabilities and alleges that she was sold to the Marine for sexual exploitation.
According to Military.com, both the Marine and the girl claimed to have met on the dating app Tinder. The girl used a fake name and falsely claimed to be 22 years old on the app. The Marine has admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the girl.
