Tampons and Sanitary Pads Now Available in ⁢Men’s Restrooms in Canadian Parliament

Thanks to a new policy by⁣ Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tampons and sanitary pads will now be readily available in all men’s restrooms in the Canadian‍ Parliament.

The new policy mandates that tampons and pads be provided for free in all men’s restrooms in the Parliament,⁢ as well as other federal ⁤workplaces with intensive security measures, including airports and military bases.

However, Canadian conservatives ‌have expressed ‍their disdain⁤ and ridicule for this new policy.

Canadian Senator Linda Frum shared her thoughts‍ on the policy and‌ even⁣ attached a photo of the products in‍ an ‍all-gender bathroom‌ on X, formerly Twitter.

“Back in the⁣ day, when only women menstruated, we ⁢had to pay for our own products. But now that men menstruate too, these products, as of this ⁢week, are mandated to be ‌free‍ in ⁣all men’s washrooms⁣ in all federal workplaces, including Parliament Hill — where this photo was‍ taken today,” Frum ‌said.

The Canadian Labour Code, which was announced ⁢in May and went into⁢ effect ⁣on December 15th, now requires‌ that “menstrual products must be in all toilet rooms regardless ‌of their marked genders.”

“This means that‌ every⁢ female-identified, male-identified, and all-gender toilet rooms ‍will need to have menstrual products,” the regulations stated. “Unrestricted access to menstrual products better⁢ protects menstruating employees and makes sure that they ⁢feel safe ⁢to use the‌ toilet room that best reflects their gender.”

Trudeau’s government officials argue that ”providing employees with access to menstrual products ‍supports‍ better health outcomes and workplace productivity while reducing the stigma ⁣often associated with menstruation.”
