A car plowed into a crowd of Philadelphia Eagles fans celebrating the team’s victory over ‍the Washington⁢ Commanders​ in the NFC Championship game on a Sunday night in Center City, Philadelphia. ​The incident,⁢ which​ occurred around 9:30 p.m.,resulted in injuries to multiple people,wiht ‌witness accounts estimating ‌between three to thirty victims. one witness described a‌ chaotic scene where a ⁢driver, who was reportedly arguing with others, accelerated and‌ hit individuals on the sidewalk. The⁢ police are investigating the situation, and while the driver is⁣ in custody, they do not ⁢currently believe the act was intentional.Victims ​were hospitalized, but none are believed to ​have​ life-threatening injuries.

Multiple people were injured after a car was driven into a crowd of Philadelphia Eagles fans in the Center City section of Philadelphia on Sunday night. 

Hundreds of fans were celebrating the team’s win against the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game to advance to the NFL‘s Super Bowl 59. The incident reportedly occurred at 9:30 p.m.

“Everybody dancing, getting along. Next thing you know, a car coming down, and it’s speeding, and it hit 10 people,” a witness told Philadelphia’s NBC 10.

“It was a car. She was on the sidewalk,” another witness explained. “And she was arguing with some people. Drove straight down into the crowd, and it hit probably at least, at least 30 people.”

The motive for driving the car into the crowd was not immediately clear, according to reports. Nor was there an official total for the number of people injured. Based on the witnesses’ accounts, the number of victims was from as few as three people to as many as 30.

The Washington Examiner contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to clarify details about the incident, including a possible motive and number of victims. The PPD directed the inquiry to a statement on the department’s official X account.

 

“Auto Vs. Pedestrians crash at Broad and Spring Garden – driver of vehicle is in custody,” the Philadelphia Police posted. “Does not appear intentional at this time.”

Multiple victims were taken to the hospital. It is believed none of them have life-threatening injuries. The suspected driver of the vehicle was reportedly in custody.
