Beware, Online Pranksters – Risk of Violence.
Prankster Videos: When Fun Goes Too Far
Apps like TikTok have given rise to a new wave of prankster videos. While some of these videos may be funny, others can be deadly.
The Risks of Prankster Videos
Take the case of Tanner Cook, a 21-year-old YouTube influencer known for recording pranks at shopping malls. Cook was filming a prank at the Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling, Virginia, last month that involved Google’s translate feature. Cook posts videos on Classified Goons, which has more than 50,000 subscribers.
Unfortunately, Cook’s prank didn’t go as planned. Alan Colie, 31, was offended and shot Cook in the stomach. Colie faces several felony charges, including aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a building.
Similarly, Isaiah Collazo, 18, of Staten Island, died after his friend jokingly pulled the emergency brake on a train in New York City for a video. Mark Smith, 25, was not amused and stabbed Collazo in the stomach.
Another tragic incident involved Timothy Wilks, 20, of Nashville, who died after he was shot during what his friend told police was supposed to be a YouTube prank robbery.
When Pranks Go Wrong
These incidents highlight the dangers of prankster videos. While they may seem harmless, they can quickly turn deadly. It’s important to remember that what may be funny to one person may not be funny to another. It’s crucial to consider the potential consequences of a prank before attempting it.
- Always consider the safety of yourself and others.
- Think about how your actions may be perceived by others.
- Remember that pranks can quickly escalate and turn dangerous.
Prankster videos can be entertaining, but it’s important to remember that they come with risks. Let’s all strive to make sure that our pranks are harmless and don’t put anyone in danger.
