CashApp Founder Murdered in San Francisco in Random Stabbing
Bob Lee, 43, the founder of CashApp and also known as “Crazy Bob” in the tech community, was fatally stabbed in San Francisco on Tuesday. Lee was on a business trip to the city when he was attacked in what was supposedly a “safe” part of town.
The San Francisco Police responded to reports of the stabbing in the Rincon Hill neighborhood on Main Street at around 2:35 am. They found Lee with stab wounds while paramedics were called to the scene. Unfortunately, Lee passed away in the hospital.
The police have not yet apprehended any suspects, and details about a potential perpetrator have not been released. The social media has been flooded with tributes following the terrible news.
Former MMA fighter Jake Schields took to Twitter to express his condolences and outrage, emphasizing that Lee was targeted in a random attack. TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington also expressed his grief, noting that he had known Lee for 15 years and describing him as one of the best people he had ever met. Even Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, extended his sympathies while lamenting the rampant violent crime in the Bay Area.
Lee’s shocking murder is yet another tragic reminder of the escalating violent crime rates in the San Francisco area. In response, some commuters are arming themselves with baseball bats as a personal safety precaution.
