Catholic group to take action against LA Dodgers for inviting anti-Christian ‘hate group’.
Catholic Group Launches $1 Million Campaign to Boycott LA Dodgers Over Anti-Catholic Drag Queens
The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing a major backlash from the Catholic community after honoring an anti-Catholic hate group during the team’s pro-LGBT “Pride Night” event earlier this month. The group, called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, uses imagery of Catholic nuns and even Christ himself for sexualized drag performances, which is insulting to Catholics and all Christians.
A major Catholic advocacy group, CatholicVote, is launching a $1 million campaign to promote a boycott of the team. Brian Burch, the leader of the organization, explained his reasoning in a letter to the franchise, stating that “there is no place for anti-Catholic bigotry, mocking of religious sisters, or celebrating a perverse activist group whose identity is marked by blasphemy and mockery of Catholics.”
The ads calling out the Dodgers will be featured in the area of Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Burch also urged the Dodgers’ administration to meet with representatives of the Catholic community, including nuns, an offer the team had proved willing to offer to the LGBT community.
Christian Faith and Family Day
The Dodgers appeared to respond to the nascent Christian boycott of the franchise by scheduling a Christian Faith and Family Day. Three-time Cy Young Award-winning Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who is himself a Christian, promoted the event on his Twitter feed.
Excited to announce the relaunch of Christian Faith and Family Day at Dodger Stadium on July 30th. More details to come— but we are grateful for the opportunity to talk about Jesus and determined to make it bigger and better than it was before COVID. Hope to see you on July 30th! pic.twitter.com/yNu7HyEgR9

However, the political timing of the event isn’t distracting Catholic leaders from the act of anti-Catholicism the club intends to feature. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will receive a Community Hero award from the Dodgers during the team’s LGBT event, according to The New York Times.
What You Can Do
If you want to show your opposition to the Dodgers’ celebration of anti-Catholic bigotry and mockery, join the boycott and spread the word. Here are some ways you can help:
- Don’t attend Dodgers games or buy their merchandise
- Share this story on social media and encourage others to join the boycott
- Write to the Dodgers’ administration and express your opposition to their decision
Let’s stand together and show the Dodgers that there is no place for hate and bigotry in our society.
