CBS News has new leadership with a newly appointed president.

CBS ⁣Announces New Leadership‌ Appointments

CBS made⁢ exciting new leadership‌ appointments on Monday ‌following Neeraj Khemlani’s departure as CBS News and Stations president. Wendy McMahon, who previously co-led the news division ‌with Khemlani, has been named president‌ and CEO of CBS News and‌ Stations, as well as CBS Media Ventures. In her new role, McMahon‍ will oversee all of CBS News’ ⁢broadcast and streaming operations, local television stations, news⁤ streaming channels, and domestic syndication‍ businesses.

Additionally, Steve LoCascio, who has been with CBS for 34 years, announced his plans to​ retire as president⁣ of CBS Media ​Ventures.

In a heartfelt⁢ memo, LoCascio reflected on⁢ his time at CBS and the unexpected changes⁣ in the television ‌industry. He expressed his gratitude for the success ⁤of shows like Wheel⁢ of Fortune and Jeopardy!, as well as the emergence of new voices like Drew Barrymore.

Khemlani, who stepped down from⁢ his ⁢position after two years, will continue working at CBS to develop content for Simon &⁢ Schuster.

Under McMahon’s leadership, CBS News will continue to deliver top-notch ‌programming, including popular shows like ⁣60 Minutes, Face‌ the ‍Nation, CBS Mornings, ⁤Jeopardy!, Wheel of ⁣Fortune, and⁤ Inside Edition. She ‍has already made significant contributions‌ to expanding local news coverage,⁢ with local streaming viewership​ increasing ​by 61 percent from 2022 to 2023.

Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews has ⁢been appointed as ‌the president of CBS News, where she will have editorial oversight over various departments, including news programs, global newsgathering, streaming and digital editorial, standards ​and practices, special​ events, politics, elections and surveys, social media, ‍the race and culture unit, and CBS ‍News Radio. Ciprian-Matthews brings 30 years ⁢of experience at CBS, having served in ‌various leadership positions.

Network Shakeups

Recent ​executive exits and legal battles have also impacted other networks, such as CNN and Fox News.

CNN recently fired CEO Chris Licht due to declining ratings. The‌ network has announced a⁢ new programming lineup as part of its overhaul strategy.
