‘Chaos Agent’ RFK Jr. Challenges Biden for 2024
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a vaccine skeptic and attorney, has announced his intention to run for the US presidency in 2024. He will be the second long-shot Democratic candidate after Marianne Williamson to challenge President Joe Biden in his expected re-election campaign. Kennedy, son of the late U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.
Kennedy had been appointed to lead a presidential panel to review vaccine safety and science in 2017, eliciting immediate criticism from the scientific and public health community. He is said to have been encouraged for months by Steve Bannon, a former chief strategist in Donald Trump’s administration, due to Kennedy’s capacity for stoking anti-vax sentiment across the nation.
Instagram suspended Kennedy’s account in 2021 after he shared content that violated its policies on the COVID-19 pandemic, frequently posting dubious claims.
In a tweet earlier last month, Kennedy hinted to his presidential ambitions and expressed his intention to end the unethical combination of corporate and state power. He stated that this corrupt merger has damaged the economy, caused pollution and erosion of fundamental values and freedoms.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a member of the famous American political dynasty, is the nephew of assassinated President John F. Kennedy.
