Charlamagne tha God wonders ‘what happened to all the fascist talk’ about Trump – Washington Examiner
In a recent episode of “The Breakfast Club,” radio host Charlamagne tha God expressed his confusion over President Joe Biden’s warm reception of former President Donald Trump during their White House meeting. This encounter was particularly striking to Charlamagne given Biden’s previous critical characterization of Trump as a ”threat to democracy” and “fascist.” He questioned how Biden could transition from such strong condemnations to welcoming Trump back. Charlamagne remarked on the inconsistency in the political rhetoric surrounding Trump, especially from his opponents, highlighting his concern over whether they truly believed their previous statements about Trump’s threat level. His comments reflect a broader skepticism about the motivations and sincerity of Democratic leaders in their discourse about Trump.
Charlamagne tha God wonders ‘what happened to all the fascist talk’ about Trump
Radio host Charlamagne tha God was puzzled by President Joe Biden’s warm welcome to President-elect Donald Trump when he once called him a “threat to democracy.”
Charlamagne commented on the exchange between the two political rivals on The Breakfast Club Thursday, the day after Biden and Trump met at the White House. Biden and Trump were all smiles during their visit at the White House, where Biden told Trump, “Welcome back.”
“Well, I just don’t understand the White House visit,” Charlamagne said. “Now, granted, you know, I’m glad it’s a peaceful transition of power; but what happened to the ‘threat of democracy’ talk? What happened to the ‘fascist’ talk? By the way, I know I’ve said those things about Trump, as well — but I’m not talking about me. I’m talking about his political opponents, like President Biden. When they say it, it holds way more weight than me. I’m just trying to figure out how do you go from, ‘He’s an existential threat to democracy,’ to, ‘Welcome back’?”
Charlamagne pointed out that Biden was using this rhetoric as recently as the Monday before the Nov. 5 election.
“But don’t y’all find it strange that now that [Trump] won, they’re not calling him a threat of democracy? They’re not calling him a fascist. I mean, damn,” Charlamagne said. “It just makes you wonder how much of it did they really believe or how much of it was just politics and stuff.”
Despite Biden’s attempts to thwart Trump with name-calling, the president has instead been credited with inadvertently foiling Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign. Biden referred to Trump’s supporters as “garbage” during a podcast appearance. He also jokingly donned a Trump hat while speaking to voters.
Harris said Trump was “like Hitler.” However, she conceded the race and optimistically told her supporters, “Do not despair.”
