Charles Barkley Calls Lebron James’ The Lakers “Awful,” Tired of Constantly Talking About Them and Having to Broadcast Their Games
TNT analyst and Basketball Hall of Fame member Charles Barkley is unloading on the Lakers, who continue to benefit from overwhelmingly glowing media coverage despite not delivering the results on the court Barkley feels is needed to back that up.
“The Lakers stink,” Barkley said during the recap of the first half of Tuesday’s game against the Boston Celtics. “Y’all forcing us to show them all the time like they’re going to be good.”
Barkley was asked by another panelist who was forcing this discussion, to which he replied with “The NBA.”
“It’s a conspiracy,” Barkley continued. “And then we got all these clowns on television having to talk about them every day.”
Barkley elaborated, “It’s a conspiracy. Like we have to talk about the Lakers. The Lakers are awful. We don’t talk about no other 14 seed. Sorry, they ain’t a 14 seed. They’re a 12 seed.
“We don’t talk about — what’s the 12 seed in the East? We don’t ever talk about the Washington Wizards, do we? Ever.” Barkley asked. “Do we ever mention the Washington Wizards? The great Bradley Beal? No.” The Washington Wizards are currently the No. 12 seed in the Eastern Conference, the same position that the Lakers are in the West.
Barkley continued, “But for some reason, these morning talk shows and us, we have to show the Lakers all the time. The Lakers stink.”
“They should be embarrassed that they shouldn’t be getting as much attention that they are,” said Sports Wars host Ryan Kinel.
“[Charles Barkley] is absolutely right, the fact that the team is getting so much attention and so much national press and everything when they’re this bad is really sad and pathetic,” he added.
The Dallas Mavericks will be facing off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day in one week.
