Chicago mayoral race: Endorsements lining up for Vallas and Johnson ahead of runoff







The Chicago mayoral runoff election is less than a month away, and both candidates are receiving endorsements from influential organizations and individuals from Chicago, and even the United States.

The Democratic candidate, who aims to address the city’s issues on crime and education that were exacerbated by the pandemic, is receiving endorsements from both progressive-leaning candidate Brandon Johnson and the more centrist candidate Paul Vallas.

As of 2022, the Chicago mayoral race has generated over $22 million in funds, which was divided among the nine candidates during the general election. Now that no candidate was able to receive 50% of the vote, it is down to the two leading candidates, Vallas and Johnson, who will go head-to-head to determine Chicago’s direction for the next four years.
