China Fear Grips a Republican

Talk Kevin McCarthy, the U.S. House Speaker (R-Calif.), is apologizing to China by not going to Taiwan as he wished. He would be “accommodating” in July.love to do,“It is a setback for the United States of America and its Asian partners.”
Tsai Ingwen, Taiwan president, and McCarthy announced a meeting in America. This is great, but it has sparked speculation that they will reverse the precedent set in August by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.Calif.). new status quo.”
Beijing has warned against official contacts with Taiwan following reports that McCarthy planned to visit Taiwan within the next few months. McCarthy appears to be being influenced by Beijing’s threats to temper his enthusiasm.
After Speaker Pelosi’s visit, there was a significant increase in Chinese cyber, air force and naval activity around the island. This amounted to an exercise of blockade. Beijing fired ballistic missiles at Taiwan and cancelled eight talks with the United States on counternarcotics, climate and military issues.
Talks on fighting the overdose crisis were one of the topics that were suspended. In 2021, 107,000 Americans died from it. Many of those deaths can also be traced to illegal Fentanyl and its precursors that were shipped from China to Mexico.
McCarthy was informed by Tsai’s administration about the increased threat to China from McCarthy’s visit. This information, combined with McCarthy’s inability to publicly confirm his plans suggests that McCarthy is in the process a flip-flop.
The Financial Times reported Wednesday that “Taiwan’s president, Tsai Ing-wen, has convinced U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy to meet in California rather than Taipei to avoid an aggressive Chinese military response, as tensions run high between Beijing and Washington.”
Monday Taiwan’s Defense Minister Warning: The Chinese military was “looking for pretexts like foreign senior officials visiting” To escalate its aggression, including the risk of “sudden entry” Just 24 nautical miles from Taiwan’s coast.
According to the Financial Times, Taiwanese officials were quoted as saying, “There might be policies even more irrational than in the past emanating from Beijing. If we can try to control this together, the risks it brings for everybody can be contained better.”
Tsai’s visit to the United States could also increase the risk from Beijing. One official supported Tsai’s decision by pointing out that while the risk must be managed, it is important that Tsai not travel to the United States. “pushing the status quo backward is not the way.”
The status quo will be reversed if McCarthy does not visit Taiwan. Beijing’s bullying tactics of diplomatic retaliation and threats, military buildup, military incrementalism, and diplomatic threat would prevail.
McCarthy’s office stated that his visit to Tsai in the United States would not impact his plans to visit Taipei. However, it seems that he failed to confirm those plans in the context questioning.
This contrasts with Nancy Pelosi’s push for a visit in the face of military threats by Beijing and President Joe Biden’s four-time declaration that he would defend Taiwan from any invasion by China.
It would seem that Republicans are measurably more tough on China than Democrats. Rep. Mike Gallagher For example, (R-Wis.) is sticking to the right of his Democratic counterparts on the House competition committee with China.
China wants to drive the United States and its Asian partners out of Asia in order for Xi Jinping to realize his “Reign of Terror”China Dream“Of first regional and then global hegemony.
As the balance of power shifts away from Washington to Beijing, it appears that this is paying off. With a national debt of more than $1 trillion, the United States is slipping. $31 TrillionA string of expensive U.S. wars now in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Ukraine. Large-scale American deaths due to the pandemic or the fentanyl epidemic.
The United States has been withdrawing from Taiwan diplomatically, militarily, and with Beijing’s growing belligerence towards the island since the 1970s. This could lead to Taiwan being invaded as soon as the 1980s. This yearThese are indicators of America’s decline in power relative to China. McCarthy’s Taiwan waffle is just one example of McCarthy’s latest retreat.
A new strategy is needed to defeat China and give Taiwan the independence it deserves. If Beijing succeeds it might use Taiwan and its strong economy to support China.
We must defend ourselves by strengthening our military and economic power as well as that of our allies to ensure Taiwan is completely secure from any attack. Perhaps Speaker McCarthy wouldn’t be as afraid to visit Taiwan if that were the case.
