One user responded to Roy’s endorsement, expressing indifference⁢ towards his support for DeSantis or Trump. They also raised concerns about‍ potential presidential bids from Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) ⁢and ⁤former first lady Michelle‍ Obama. Roy replied to the tweet, explaining his endorsement.

“Well — Ron‍ DeSantis ​is debating ‍Newsom next week,” Roy wrote. “Trump is not showing up to ‌debates…”

Trump has seemingly held a grudge against Roy ‌due to his opposition to Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. The former president chose not to endorse Roy in his bid for the House Republican Conference chairman position in 2021, instead endorsing Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who ultimately won.
