Chris Christie slams Trump in Sunday interviews.
Chris Christie Takes on Donald Trump
Republican presidential candidate and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie didn’t hold back in his recent interviews, where he aggressively criticized former President Donald Trump.
Christie, a former federal prosecutor, confidently stated on ABC News’ “This Week” that he fully expects Trump to attend the first Republican primary debate next month. According to Christie, Trump wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to witness firsthand what Christie plans to do to him on that stage.
Christie went on to highlight Trump’s failure to deliver on key Republican issues during his four years as president. He pointed out that Trump promised to repeal and replace Obamacare, but failed to do so despite having a Republican Congress. Additionally, Trump pledged to balance the budget but ended up adding a staggering $6 trillion to the national debt. As for the infamous border wall, Christie emphasized that Trump only managed to build 47 miles of new wall in four years, a pace that would require over a century to complete the project.
Undeterred, Christie asserted that his path to winning the primary lies directly through Trump, as there is no alternative lane to run in.
A Liar and a Coward
Later, during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Christie continued his scathing critique of the former president.
Tapper questioned Christie about Trump’s claim that he was “being indicted” for the sake of his supporters. Christie didn’t mince words, labeling Trump as a “liar and a coward.” He made it clear that Trump’s indictment was a result of his own misconduct, specifically his illegal retention of classified national secrets after being repeatedly asked to return them.
Christie firmly stated that Trump’s outrageous conduct led to his indictment and now he has the opportunity to prove his innocence in court. However, Christie expressed skepticism about Trump’s decision to delay the trial until after the 2024 election, suggesting that it may not be in the best interest of the American people.
Christie concluded by urging Trump to resolve his criminal cases before the upcoming election, allowing voters to make informed decisions based on all available information.
