Chris Christie knocks Trump over smaller crowd sizes at CPAC: ‘He’s not what he used to be’

Trump takes pride in drawing large and enthusiastic audiences while mocking those who don’t attract the same crowds. Christie maintained a run of 2024, but he claimed that Trump’s poor showing at CPAC indicated his declining influence.
“You saw the scenes at CPAC, that room was half-full,” Christie spoke on ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos “The reason I don’t think the rallies are going on … I don’t think the rallies would be nearly as big as they were before.”
CPAC 2023 received from lower attendance levels This was a far greater turnout than in previous years of this prestigious conservative gathering. Trump attracted a much larger audience than his 2024 GOP colleagues who spoke, but reporters captured video of empty seats in the Potomac Ballroom as he gave his keynote speech.
