Christie claims he’s the GOP candidate to beat Trump.

Former NJ Gov. Chris Christie Takes on Trump in 2024 Campaign

“The reason I am going after Trump is twofold: one, he deserves it, and two, it’s the way to win,”

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has announced his campaign for the 2024 Republican nomination, and he’s not holding back. In a recent town hall in New Hampshire, Christie defended his mission to undermine former President Donald Trump, stating that it’s not just about winning, but also about holding Trump accountable for his actions.

Christie’s Strategy

Christie has made it clear that he does not have a strategy to court Trump’s supporters, but he’s not worried. He believes that there is no such thing as “Trump voters” and that he will win by being himself.

  • “There is no such thing as Trump voters,” he said. “They’re not one of his failed casinos in New Jersey. … He doesn’t own them.”

Christie’s decision to run for president is based on his belief that the country is becoming “smaller” and that character is no longer “destiny.” He believes that Trump made the country smaller by dividing us even further and pitting one group against another.

Christie’s Criticisms

Christie has not been shy about criticizing his Republican rivals, including Trump and Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida. He has criticized Trump’s foreign and immigration policies, as well as his family’s “breathtaking” grift.

  • “The grift from this family is breathtaking,” he said. “Jared Kushner and Ivanka Kushner walk out of the White House and months later get $2 billion from the Saudis.”

Christie has a reputation for being assertive and aggressive with critics, and he’s not afraid to use those skills in the 2024 campaign. He believes that it’s time for Trump to answer questions and stop deflecting blame onto others.

Trump’s Response

Trump’s camp was quick to criticize Christie and DeSantis, releasing a statement that indirectly referenced Christie’s weight.

  • “Ron DeSantis’ campaign is spiraling, and President Trump’s dominance over the Republican primary field has opened a mad rush to seize the mantle for runner-up,” Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Trump PAC Make America Great Again Inc., said. “Ron DeSantis is not ready for this moment, and Chris Christie will waste no time eating DeSantis’ lunch.”

Despite the criticism, Christie remains confident in his campaign and his ability to win the nomination. He believes that it’s time for a change and that he’s the right person for the job.

  • “It’s time for him to stand in the center of this room and answer questions,” he said. “It’s time for him not to look at somebody and, when he doesn’t like the question, just call them a mean person.”

Only time will tell if Christie’s strategy will pay off, but one thing is for sure: the 2024 Republican nomination is shaping up to be a contentious and exciting race.
