Christie silenced by boos, moderator must control crowd.

Former New ⁤Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Booed During Republican Debate

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie‍ faced a barrage of boos during the first Republican debate of the‍ 2024 election season. Moderator Bret Baier had to intervene as the audience’s disapproval reached‍ a crescendo.

Baier posed a question⁢ to the ‍eight candidates on stage in Milwaukee, asking whether they would support ‍former President Donald Trump ‌if he were ⁣convicted in⁣ one of his indictments.

Christie, along with former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, was one ⁤of the two candidates who did not raise their hands in support. This decision drew attention and criticism.

“Here’s the bottom line: Someone’s got to stop normalizing this conduct,” explained the ‍former governor ⁢passionately.

“Whether or not you believe⁢ that the criminal charges are right or wrong, ⁤the conduct is beneath⁢ the office of president of the United States,” he asserted.

Despite the negative response from the audience, Christie stood his ground. “This is the great thing about this country: Booing is allowed, but it doesn’t change the truth,” he defiantly declared.

Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy then accused Christie of running a hypocritical campaign of “vengeance” against Trump.

As the exchange between Christie and Ramaswamy escalated, the ⁣former governor was drowned out by a chorus⁢ of boos.

Recognizing the need to restore order, Baier intervened‍ and requested the crowd to cease their booing.

“Listen, the more⁣ time ⁣we spend doing‌ this, the less ⁢time they can talk about issues you‍ want to talk ⁤about,” the Fox News host urged.
