CIA agents bribed to alter stance on COVID-19 origins: Whistleblower
Six CIA Officers Paid to Change Position on COVID-19 Origins, Whistleblower Claims
A recent whistleblower testimony reveals that six CIA officers were allegedly paid to alter their stance on the origins of COVID-19.
During a hearing held by the U.S. House of Representatives Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, a senior CIA officer disclosed that a team of seven personnel conducted an analysis on the origins of COVID-19. While six members of the team concluded, with low confidence, that the virus originated from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, the seventh and most senior member believed it came from animals.
“The whistleblower further contends that to come to the eventual public determination of uncertainty, the other six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position,” Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio), chairman of the panel, and Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told CIA Director William Burns in a letter on Sept. 12.
“These allegations, from a seemingly credible source, require further oversight by the Committees to examine how the CIA conducted its internal investigation into the origins of COVID-19,” they added.
The lawmakers have requested the CIA to provide all documents related to the analysis of COVID-19 origins, including communications among team members. They have also asked for the pay history of the seven members.
Another Letter
In a separate letter, the lawmakers have invited Andrew Makridis, former chief operating officer of the CIA, to answer questions regarding his involvement in the CIA-led COVID Discovery Team(s) and its conclusion that the origins of COVID-19 could not be determined.
Mr. Makridis, who is now with Beacon Global Strategies, has been requested to participate in a voluntary interview on Sept. 26. The lawmakers have indicated that a subpoena may be issued if he declines to appear.
Intelligence Report
A declassified report from various intelligence agencies states that both a natural and laboratory-associated origin are plausible hypotheses for the first human infection of COVID-19. However, the majority of agencies believe the virus originated in animals.
The U.S. Department of Energy and the FBI have presented evidence suggesting that the virus originated in the Wuhan lab, where coronavirus testing, some of which was funded by the U.S., has been conducted for years.
Two agencies, including the CIA, have been unable to determine the precise origin of the pandemic due to conflicting reporting and significant assumptions, according to the report.
Furthermore, the report confirms that none of the agencies believe COVID-19 was developed as a biological weapon.
New Bill
In response to the report, Senator Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) has introduced legislation that would require the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to release records on the origins of COVID-19.
“Every American deserves to know the truth about the origins of Covid-19, China’s involvement, and the ongoing cover-up,” said Senator Marshall. He emphasized the need for transparency and criticized the Biden Administration for not providing the requested information.
The legislation aims to make all agency records related to the origin of COVID-19, the cover-up of its origins, and coronavirus research, including vaccine development, publicly available.
