Class-action lawsuit: Kia and Hyundai owners have two weeks to claim compensation – Washington Examiner

The HTML text ⁤provided appears to contain ⁢information about a ⁣recall‌ for certain Kia and Hyundai models. It mentions that⁢ customers of these brands have two weeks to check if ‍they are eligible for benefits from a settlement. Specific details about the recall or the‌ terms of the settlement, however, are‌ not⁢ provided in the text‌ excerpt. For a proper summary, more details ⁣from the full text would be needed.

Certain Kia and Hyundai customers have two weeks to see if they benefit from the auto companies’ undisclosed settlement to resolve claims that some vehicles from model years 2010 to 2020 suffer from a defect.

The defect is related to the engine’s connecting rod bearing. This bearing can fail, causing engine seizure, stalling, engine failure, and even engine fires — all of which may not be covered by warranty.

The companies haven’t settled on a specific amount owners can receive, though they can be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses for their vehicles. Owners whose cars were destroyed in fires due to the defect will also receive $150. Kia also agreed to pay owners $150 if their car hasn’t been destroyed, but they’ve lost faith in the vehicle.

While Kia, which owns the Kia and Hyundai brands, didn’t admit to any wrongdoing, the settlement comes as a victory for customers who have been denied repairs under vehicles’ warranties, among other things.

Kia or Hyundai owners will need to provide a completed claim form and any relevant documentation, such as qualifying repairs or proof of vehicle ownership, to receive compensation. The settlement provides the following benefits: Reimbursement for out-of-pocket repair expenses and engine failure expenses, compensation for trade-ins and sales, compensation for total vehicle lost, warranty extension, and a rebate program.
