Close Business Associate of Hunter Biden Is Cooperating With Congress
The Congressional investigators achieved a significant breakthrough when Eric Schwerin, an associate of Hunter Biden and who had also dealt with Joe Biden’s tax affairs and business, agreed to cooperate.
“He is cooperating with us,” House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) revealed Thursday evening on the “Just the News, No Noise” Television show. “His attorneys and my counsel are communicating on a regular basis. Now, I feel confident that he’s going to work with us, and provide us with the information that we have requested.”
Comer was added: “I think that Schwerwin is going to be a very valuable witness for us in this investigation.”
This announcement comes after the committee learned that Hunter Biden’s uncle James Biden, the president’s brother, has not yet indicated that they are willing to share all of the information Comer has requested in its extensive probe into the overseas business dealings of the first family that accumulated millions from Ukraine to China.
Comer said that his committee is not going to wait and will start issuing subpoenas right away.
“We know individuals, many are cooperating with us now, but others, not so much,” He said. “We’re going to start subpoenaing people in the private sector, we’re going to start subpoenaing financial institutions to get us the information. And then we’ll go from there.”
Hunter Biden was also harassed by Comer for not cooperating fully, claiming that the lack of cooperation undermined his claims that he had nothing hidden.
“If I were Hunter Biden, and I’m as innocent as his lawyers and the little hit guy that works in the White House and attacks me every day says he is, I would want to clear my name in front of the House Oversight Committee,” He said.
“He could come in front of the House Oversight Committee right now and defend his good name,” Comer stated. “He would have 20 Democrats who would support him. He could make 26 Republicans look bad if we have all of his information, all his emails, all his audio, and all his words. If we misunderstand that, it could make us look bad.”
“But we all know that this family was involved in influence peddling. And this administration is doing everything in its ability to try to block oversight.”
Hunter Biden and Joe Biden denied any wrongdoing by the family, while Hunter Biden admitted that he was under federal criminal investigations on tax matters.
Comer stated that while the committee is battling the White House and Biden families for information, Schwerin’s cooperation was a breakthrough which could encourage other key witnesses.
“That’s a very positive development, I believe that’s going to lead to a few others coming forward,” He said.
Emails from a Hunter Biden laptop turned over by the FBI in 2019 reveal that Schwerin, a business executive at Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca investment company, was within close proximity to Joe Biden while Joe Biden was running international business deals and vice president.
Schwerin, for example, was involved in the vetting and facilitation of Hunter Biden’s business transactions with the Chinese energy company CEFC. This relationship has raised questions about whether communist China may have compromised the Biden family, providing it, according to emails, a high-end diamond and a multimillion-dollar, no interest, forgivable loan.
“If we can make the connection [to CEFC] we can take a percentage of the sale,” Schwerin wrote Hunter Biden Aug. 22, 2016, explaining how they could make a profit.
Schwerin was involved in discussions about tax and financial issues with Vice President Biden as early as 2010.
“Your Dad just called me (about his mortgage) and mentioned he’d be out a lot soon and not really back until Labor Day,” Schwerin sent Hunter Biden an email on July 6, 2010 “So it dawned on me it might be a good time (also he could use some positive news about his future earnings potential!).”
Hunter Biden’s lawyer and the White House were not available for comment.
