CNBC Anchor Jim Cramer: ‘Government Has A Right To Force You To Obey’

CNBC anchor Jim Cramer was slammed for arguing that the government “has a right to force you to obey.”

The remarks from Cramer — who has worked as an anchor with the financial news outlet for the past two decades — follow his previous arguments in favor of harsh COVID-19 mitigation policies.

Conservatives and libertarians immediately refuted Cramer’s argument.

“I missed the ‘right to force you to obey’ in the Constitution but go off,” replied columnist Karol Markowicz. 

“Governments do not have rights. Only individuals have rights,” noted the Libertarian Party of Nevada. “Rights emerge from properties inherent to our existence, their source is our humanity, and they are fundamental to the nature of our being. Rights cannot be granted by government because they preexist all governments.”

“You came out as a fascist a while ago, but I guess this is a more blatant way of admitting it,” added commentator Lauren Chen.

On Thursday, Cramer responded that he is “getting people furious” over his pro-vaccine stand — adding that those who disagree with him would be “pro-polio” in another era.

As The Daily Wire recently reported, Cramer believes that unvaccinated Americans should have to make their argument before a court to defend their “conscientious objector” status. He also slammed the “toothless” vaccine mandates forwarded by the Biden administration:

We haven’t centralized the issue to the point where the White House actually seems to take responsibility. We’d see. First was the CDC, then the FDA, the National Institutes of Health, mostly coordinating policy through talk shows.

Then we left vaccination policy to individual companies. Now it’s toothless OSHA going back and forth on what’s allowed in factories, but nobody with any power saying the frontline workers need to be vaccinated. It’s just plain wrong, and most of us are sick of it.

Cramer then castigated those who have not yet been vaccinated for perpetuating the COVID-19 crisis:

Even as a vocal, anti-vax minority is always grabbing the mic, this charade must end. The government must require vaccinations. Not of this group or that group, not company by company, not cruise ship by cruise ship, or airline by airline or governor by governor. The buck stops at the White House.

Despite Cramer’s staunch support for mandatory vaccination, early data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveal that nearly eight in ten cases of the Omicron variant occurred in fully vaccinated people. However, Dr. Anthony Fauci — who leads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and works as President Biden’s chief medical adviser on COVID-19 — believes that “if you want to be optimally protected you really should get a booster.”
