CNN Blasts Don Lemon Over Statement, Claims It’s False
CNN Fires Don Lemon: Former Co-Host Claims He Was Terminated Without Notice
Don Lemon, former co-host of “CNN This Morning,” claimed that he was terminated without notice. However, CNN Communications responded by saying that Lemon’s statement was false. They offered him an opportunity to meet with management, but he instead released a statement on Twitter. Lemon’s agent informed him that he had been terminated, and he expressed disappointment that no one from management had told him directly. CNN CEO Chris Licht later confirmed that the network had parted ways with Lemon.
Lemon had been in trouble earlier this year after a spat with his two female co-hosts. He was also criticized for making derogatory comments about Nikki Haley. Variety reported that Lemon has faced allegations dating back to 2008 that he has not treated women well in the workplace. The report said that Lemon had vented his disappointment at being passed over by tearing up pictures and notes on top of and inside his co-host’s desk. He also reportedly called one of the female producers fat to her face and mocked then-CNN anchor Nancy Grace while on air.
Former colleagues complained about Lemon’s diva-like behavior, and one woman claimed that Lemon changed over time into someone who “likes fame, likes power. He was no longer the same person.” Despite this, CNN thanked Lemon for his contributions over the past 17 years and wished him well in his future endeavors.
