CNN Forced To Fact-Check Its Claim Trump Lied About Trans Mice

The article discusses an incident where President Donald Trump, ⁣during ⁤a joint address ⁤to Congress, criticized the government’s‍ allocation of⁢ $8 million for research involving “transgender” mice. Instead of addressing this claim, CNN initially labeled ⁤Trump’s statement as false. However, they later had to amend their reporting after it became clear that Trump’s⁣ assertion was accurate,⁣ as evidenced by a list provided by the White House of federal‌ grants ‍related to gender-affirming health ⁣care studies. The‌ updated CNN article noted that the studies were‌ aimed at understanding the health implications of such treatments, rather ⁤than for the purpose of changing⁤ the gender of mice directly. This incident prompted discussions about the accuracy and obligation of major media outlets in ⁤their ‍reporting. The article highlights concerns about the ‌media’s tendency to misrepresent facts and the implications ‌of government spending on controversial ⁢research topics.

In his joint address to Congress on Tuesday, President Donald Trump highlighted the “appalling waste” in government spending, including $8 million being allocated to making mice “transgender.” Trump’s point was crystal clear: Taxpayers are spending millions on research trying to prove that it’s OK to pump boys full of estrogen and girls full of testosterone.

Instead of acknowledging the absurdity of such waste in funding, CNN immediately denounced the statement as “false” in their bogus “fact-check” of Trump’s speech, and other members of the propaganda press followed suit.

But now, CNN has been forced to walk back its own reporting that President Donald Trump’s statement was a lie.

“DOGE and transgender mice: Trump falsely claimed that the Department of Government Efficiency identified government spending of ‘$8 million for making mice transgender,’” CNN’s Deidre McPhillips originally wrote, according to a post shared on X by Libs of TikTok.

The article has since been updated with an editor’s note admitting: “An earlier version of this item incorrectly characterized as false Trump’s claim about federal money being spent for ‘making mice transgender.’”

The update claimed to add “context” to Trump’s statement, but the “context” essentially admits that Trump was right.

“The morning after Trump’s speech, the White House provided a list of $8.3 million in federal grants to health studies that involve mice receiving treatments that can be used in gender-affirming health care,” the updated version reads. “The White House list made clear what Trump, in the speech, did not: The studies were meant to figure out how these treatments might affect the health of humans who take them, not for the purpose of making mice transgender.”

On Wednesday, the White House released a statement entitled “Yes, Biden Spent Millions on Transgender Animal Experiments.” The statement highlights a $455,000 grant for “A Mouse Model to Test the Effects of Gender-affirming Hormone Therapy on HIV Vaccine-induced Immune Responses,” along with a $299,940 grant for “Gender-Affirming Testosterone Therapy on Breast Cancer Risk and Treatment Outcomes.”

Still, other legacy media outlet reporters like the Rolling Stone’s Miles Klee peddled the claim that the government wasn’t really funding research to make mice transgender — they were just funding research to analyze cancer risks for “female-to-male trans individuals.”

NBC News’ Jo Yurcaba said “it’s unclear exactly what Trump was referring to” when he referenced the federal funding used to make mice transgender — before linking the same White House statement detailing the “millions” Biden spent on “transgender animal experiments.”

If CNN — which was found by a jury earlier this year to be a literal fake news outlet — and the rest of the corporate media are so intent on “fact-checking,” maybe they should start with their own erroneous “reporting.”
