CNN Interviews Lifelong Democrat Moms Who Support Ron DeSantis

CNN recently conducted an engaging interview with a group of “lifelong Democrat” mothers from various parts of the country who are strong supporters of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. These women are drawn to DeSantis because of his policies during the COVID pandemic.

The group consists of diverse individuals, ranging from teachers to high-powered lawyers to former executives at major companies. Vanessa Steinkamp, a teacher and dedicated DeSantis supporter, expressed her belief that if DeSantis were to run for president, he would undoubtedly win, which might be a difficult reality for many to accept.

Steinkamp has been impressed by DeSantis for years, admiring his actions and words, which she believes are driven by genuine conviction. She shared, “I’ve traveled all over Florida, and you know what people say? He helped my business reopen. He helped my kids go to school. The media just focuses on the culture war instead.”

Another member of the group, attorney Julie Hamill, revealed that they affectionately refer to DeSantis as “Daddy DeSantis” in a playful manner. Hamill, who has always considered herself socially liberal, admitted that she had never voted for a Republican presidential candidate before. However, as they became more vocal on social media, they faced significant backlash and demonization.

Jennifer Sey, the former Brand President of Levis, explained that the women were drawn to DeSantis because of his vocal support for reopening schools during the pandemic. Sey highlighted the irony of being able to visit bars and strip clubs in San Francisco while her high school student couldn’t attend English class.

CNN, known for its left-wing audience, acknowledged that the moms’ concerns were valid. Data from the Department of Education showed that children, especially minority children, suffered greatly from the lockdowns and remote learning. The network also recognized that DeSantis was one of the first governors to reopen schools compared to other states.

Sey criticized the political Left for avoiding a debate about the mistakes made by public officials during the pandemic. She stated, “The Left doesn’t want to have that debate. They’re never going to allow that debate. I think they’re using incendiary tactics to smear [DeSantis]. And I think they did.”

While Sey didn’t have an issue with DeSantis’ stance against radical transgender ideologies, she expressed reservations about Florida’s six-week abortion ban. She suggested that if DeSantis clarified his position as a supporter of states’ rights and not seeking to pass a national law, her concerns would be alleviated.

Hamill also expressed her disagreement with the six-week abortion ban and worried about its potential impact on DeSantis’ campaign. However, the network noted that none of the women wanted to see a rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, indicating their openness to voting for DeSantis.
