A devastating incident occurred on Monday morning, as the soccer community mourns the sudden death of Thalia Chaverria, a junior at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
Authorities discovered Chaverria unresponsive at a residence around 7 a.m., according to KOAT-TV.
The cause of her untimely passing has not been disclosed, but an autopsy is planned, as reported by the Las Cruces Sun News.
Chaverria, who recently celebrated her 20th birthday on July 2, was entering her third season with the Aggie program, as stated in a heartfelt statement from the school.

The news has left the Aggie soccer community devastated. Head coach Rob Baarts expressed his grief, saying, “The sudden loss of Thalia has completely rocked our Aggie soccer family. She was an inspiration and a rock to this team.”
“She will be missed but not forgotten,” Baarts continued. “Her spirit will be with us every day, on and off the pitch. I will always love you T!”
Athletic director Mario Moccia also shared his condolences, describing Chaverria as having a vibrant personality and a bright future ahead of her.

While authorities are investigating the cause of Chaverria’s death, there are currently no indications of foul play, according to police.
Chaverria made significant contributions to the Aggies’ soccer team, starting in numerous games and providing assists throughout her sophomore and freshman seasons, as reported by the station.
Originally from Bakersfield, California, Chaverria attended Frontier High School before joining New Mexico State University, as mentioned in a report by KGET-TV.
In the wake of this tragedy, Chaverria’s family has started a GoFundMe campaign to bring her back home to California and support the family during this difficult time.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the campaign has far surpassed its $15,000 goal, with donations totaling over $26,000.
