Columbia University is facing controversy for inviting ‌a⁣ pro-terrorist professor, Hatem Bazian, to speak at its official “Day of Dialogue” ⁢event. Despite ‌his ‌history of calling‌ for the dismantling of Israel and advocating for an “intifada” in the United⁢ States, the university ‌defended its‍ decision, praising Bazian as a “renowned” scholar who can provide ‌different perspectives for ‌students to examine.

However, ⁣this decision has drawn criticism from faculty members who question the ⁣university’s⁣ choice. Comparing Bazian ⁤to ‍bringing David ‌Duke to campus, they ⁤argue ⁣that the invitation was not about free speech ‌but rather an active endorsement by the college ⁢administration.

The event,⁣ titled “Toward a Beloved Community: A Day of Dialogue and Reflection,” was promoted by the school’s chief diversity officer, Jennifer Rosales. ⁣Classes were canceled, and attendees who registered ⁣early‌ had a chance to win a gift card.

This is‌ not the ‌first ⁣time Columbia University has faced controversy regarding⁤ anti-Israel activism. In the past, the university allowed anti-Israel protesters to occupy a campus building without taking action.

Bazian, who co-founded Students for ⁤Justice in Palestine, a group that defends Hamas, has a long history‍ of controversy.‌ He has compared Israel to Nazi Germany, made false claims about the Israeli government harvesting organs, and‍ called for the dismantling of the Jewish state. In 2017, he was reprimanded by Berkeley for sharing anti-Semitic memes ⁣on Twitter.

Given his problematic views⁤ and associations, Bazian has been labeled “The Most Dangerous Professor in America” by the anti-Semitism watchdog group ⁣Canary Mission.
