Jay Leno: Only One Thing Can Make Me Retire.
Comedian Jay Leno Says Only One Thing Could Force Him to Retire
“Then you slow down. That’s when you retire — when you have your stroke.”
Despite facing two serious accidents in the last year, comedian Jay Leno is not slowing down. In fact, he’s gearing up for his upcoming NBC reality show “Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge.” However, Leno admits that there’s only one thing that could force him to retire: a stroke.
Leno’s Accidents
Leno’s first accident was an explosion and fire in his Los Angeles garage that caused third-degree burns to his face and hands. He spent several days in the hospital and underwent skin grafts and hyperbaric chamber treatment. Within a week of his discharge, he was back onstage performing stand-up for a sold-out crowd.
Just two months later, Leno suffered several broken bones in a motorcycle accident. He only revealed the news after being asked how his recovery from the burns was progressing. Despite his injuries, Leno remains optimistic and continues to work.
Retirement
Leno’s dedication to his craft is admirable, but he knows that his health must come first. If and when he ever suffers a stroke, he says he will slow down and retire. Until then, fans can look forward to seeing Leno on their screens and stages.
