Comer requests details on Hunter Biden artwork sale to presidential appointee.

House Oversight Committee Demands Documents on Hunter Biden ⁤Art Sale

The House Oversight ‍and Accountability Committee, led by Chairman James Comer (R-KY),⁤ is intensifying its investigation into ‌the ⁤sale of ⁤Hunter Biden’s artwork. Comer has sent two letters demanding documents from the White House General Counsel ⁤and ‌Elizabeth Hirsch Naftali, a highly connected appointee of President Joe Biden.

Last week, it was reported that Naftali, a Los ‌Angeles-based real estate investor and member of the Commission⁣ for the Preservation of ⁣America’s Heritage Abroad, had purchased one of Hunter Biden’s art pieces for up to $500,000. Comer finds this purchase and Naftali’s position on the commission ⁤suspicious, especially considering that one of Hunter Biden’s business associates was appointed to‌ the same commission during ⁤Joe ⁢Biden’s⁢ vice presidency.

In the letters obtained by the Washington ⁢Examiner, Comer is requesting documents and⁢ correspondence from both Naftali and Stuart‌ Delery, ⁢the White House⁣ general counsel. The committee wants to see ⁤any communication between the⁢ White House,‍ Naftali, and Georges Bergés, Hunter ‍Biden’s gallerist.

The White House has previously claimed to have safeguards⁢ in place to prevent ethical breaches, but the public disclosure of Naftali’s identity as the purchaser of the ‌artwork raises concerns. Comer‌ is seeking transparency and is ⁢asking for all relevant documents and communications related to the art purchase,⁣ Naftali’s appointment, and her visits to the ⁤White House.

Documents and Information‌ Requested

The committee is asking Delery to provide:

  • All documents and communications between or⁣ among the White House, Georges Bergés, the Georges ⁣Bergés Gallery, ⁣and Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali
  • All documents ⁢and communications from any⁤ federal‍ employee⁢ regarding‌ the purchase of Hunter ⁣Biden’s art
  • All documents and communications from any federal employee regarding Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali’s appointment to the Commission
  • All documents and communications regarding ⁢Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali’s visits to the White House since December 2021

Comer has also‌ sent a similar letter to⁢ Naftali herself, ⁤requesting documents and information regarding her purchase of Hunter Biden’s ‌art and⁣ any communications related to ⁤her White ⁤House visits.

Both Naftali and Delery have until August 11 to produce the requested information for the committee.

This ⁢investigation ‍comes at a time of intense scrutiny of the Biden family’s finances and business dealings. The committee⁢ is looking into whether President‍ Biden ‌had any involvement in ⁣his⁣ son’s business dealings and if there were ‍any financial influences ⁢on his actions.

Comer has ‌previously revealed ⁣bank accounts and “shell companies” indirectly associated with the Bidens, where money from‍ Hunter‌ Biden’s business associates would flow ⁤through before ending up in a ‍Biden family member’s account. One example is the ⁣transfer of $3 million⁤ from a Chinese‍ company⁣ to an account‌ belonging to Hunter Biden’s business associate, which eventually led ‍to payments to Biden family members.

The sale of Hunter Biden’s artwork is just⁢ one ⁣aspect of the ongoing investigation. The committee is also ⁣looking into allegations of a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme involving Joe Biden and Hunter Biden’s ties⁤ to a ‍Ukrainian energy ‌company.

As ‍the investigation ⁤continues,⁤ the committee is ‍determined to uncover the truth and ensure transparency in the Biden family’s financial dealings.
