Comer suggests Wray may face more contempt of Congress charges.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) accuses FBI of obstructing investigation into Biden bribery
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has accused the FBI of deliberately obstructing the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into the alleged bribery involving Hunter Biden, then-Vice President Joe Biden, and Ukrainian businessman Mykola Zlochevsky. Comer claims that the FBI is stalling and stonewalling, making it difficult for the committee to uncover the truth.
Additional documents shed light on the alleged bribery scheme
During a recent meeting, the Oversight Committee chairman and ranking member were able to view two additional documents related to the alleged criminal bribery scheme. These documents provide further insight into the involvement of Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and Mykola Zlochevsky. However, one of the documents provided by the FBI was not what Comer had originally requested.
“The FBI initially denied having these two documents, but we discovered their existence through footnotes in the original document provided by a whistleblower,” Comer explained. “Although heavily redacted, the dates on the documents were both from 2017. I specifically asked for the 2018 document, so this is a clear example of the FBI obstructing our investigation.”
Pursuing contempt of Congress proceedings against FBI Director Christopher Wray
Comer revealed that his committee is considering pursuing contempt of Congress proceedings against FBI Director Christopher Wray due to the agency’s obstruction. “We will use any option available to us, including contempt and impeachment, to ensure a thorough investigation,” Comer stated. He believes that cutting the FBI’s budget may be necessary to bring about meaningful reform and remove individuals entrenched in the “deep state” bureaucracy.
Comer emphasized the importance of Republican unity in addressing these issues. “We need to stick together as Republicans to hold the FBI accountable and bring about necessary changes,” he said.
The investigation into the Biden family’s foreign business dealings will continue, according to Comer. He expressed confidence that the House Oversight Committee will uncover the truth and ensure that the American people are fully informed.
