Comer urges delay in Hunter Biden indictment.

House Republican Teases Announcement That Could Blow Hunter Biden Investigation Wide Open

Republicans Plan Press Conference to Reveal Alleged Misconduct Beyond Tax and Gun-Related Crimes

Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) has announced that Republicans are planning a press conference for the middle of this week that could blow the investigation into Hunter Biden wide open. The conference will cover alleged misconduct beyond the charges for tax- and gun-related crimes that federal prosecutors are reportedly considering against President Joe Biden’s son.

“My message to the Department of Justice is very loud and clear: Do not indict Hunter Biden before Wednesday,” Comer said during an interview with “Sunday Morning Futures” anchor Maria Bartiromo. Republicans will present evidence showing how a “web” of LLCs is being used by foreign adversaries to covertly pay members of the Biden family in exchange for favors, the chairman said.

Ever since 2018, FBI and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigators have reportedly been looking into Hunter Biden on a number of issues, including tax crimes and a possible false statement crime related to a 2018 firearm purchase at a time when he was struggling with drug addiction.

In a sign that the inquiry is coming to a close, CNN reported lawyers for Hunter Biden met late last month with representatives from the DOJ’s tax division and Delaware’s U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who has been leading the probe. Hunter Biden has said he expects to be cleared of wrongdoing, and his father, President Biden, told MSNBC last week that his son has “done nothing wrong.”

The House Oversight Committee recently gained access to suspicious activity reports (SARs), which financial institutions can use to flag possible criminal behavior, which led GOP members to raise the alarm about possible schemes worth millions of dollars involving as many as a dozen relatives.

Democrats have accused their GOP counterparts of ignoring alleged misconduct by former President Donald Trump while trying to dig up “dirt” on the Biden family. White House spokesperson Ian Sams released a statement chastising Republicans in Congress for what he called “unfounded, unproven, politically-motivated attacks against the President and his family without offering evidence for their claims or evidence of decisions influenced by anything other than U.S. interests.”

On Sunday, Comer said what congressional investigators have seen in bank records “fits a pattern” from what they are also gleaning from documents provided by a “highly credible” whistleblower “that would implicate Joe Biden in a pay-for-play scheme, in trying to set up a deal to receive funds to he and his family, in exchange for foreign policy decisions.”

In a joint announcement with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) last week citing whistleblower disclosures, Comer’s office said that he issued a subpoena “demanding the FBI produce an unclassified record alleging a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.” The deadline is May 10.

President Biden, who is less than two weeks into his re-election campaign, has denied that he had knowledge of his son’s lucrative business dealings, which have links to foreign countries such as China and Ukraine. However, there is growing evidence — as underscored in emails reported by Fox News last week — that he met with several of Hunter Biden’s business associates during his time as vice president.

Comer said Hunter Biden, his father, and other Biden family members are suspected of potential money laundering, failure to register as a foreign agent, and possible racketeering.

“The Department of Justice has a whole menu of options to go after this family, not just the president’s son, but this family. And it’s not going to be lying on a gun application, or not paying taxes for one or two calendar years,” Comer said. “I don’t think they realize how many different LLCs and how much different money the Bidens laundered into their personal accounts. So there’s a whole lot of information here for the Department of Justice to use. And, by all accounts, I don’t think they’re aware of the majority of it.”
