DOJ Letter Confirms Ongoing Investigation into Biden Bribery

Comer Vindicated, Raskin Refuted: DOJ Letter Confirms Investigation Into Biden Bribery Is Ongoing

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer received validation on Tuesday when a letter from the Justice Department confirmed that the investigation into bribery allegations involving President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden is still ongoing.

Comer shared a tweet from CBS News investigative journalist Catherine Herridge, which included a picture of a letter dated July 10 from U.S. Attorney David Weiss to GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Weiss is overseeing the investigation into Hunter’s overseas business dealings.

“[Y]our questions about allegations contained in FBI FD 1023 (Ukraine bribery claims Hunter, Joe Biden) relate to an ongoing investigation,” the letter states.

Comer responded on Twitter, saying, “Just as I said, Jamie Raskin LIED about the FBI briefing he & I had. The FBI told us the FD 1023 was part of an ongoing investigation.”

Rep. Raskin of Maryland, a Democrat and the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, had previously stated that the Department of Justice had closed the investigation and found no grounds for further action. However, Attorney General Bill Barr refuted Raskin’s claim, stating that the investigation had been sent to Delaware for further examination.

Raskin stood by his statements, maintaining that the FBI assessment had been closed in August 2020 due to a lack of evidence indicating criminal activity. However, the ongoing investigation suggests otherwise.

These allegations stem from a whistleblower’s claims in 2020 that both Joe and Hunter Biden received $5 million from the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma while Joe was vice president. The FBI presented the FD 1023 form, which details these allegations, to Comer and other members of the Oversight Committee last month.

Joe Biden, who was the Obama administration’s point person on Ukraine policy, has dismissed the bribery allegations as “malarkey.” However, his involvement in Ukraine and Hunter’s lucrative position on the Burisma board of directors raise questions about potential corruption.

In a 2018 speech, Biden admitted to pressuring Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to fire a prosecutor who was investigating Burisma at the time. Biden threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees if the prosecutor was not fired, and he was subsequently dismissed.

The ongoing investigation into the Biden bribery allegations highlights the need for further scrutiny and transparency. As the truth unfolds, it is crucial for the media and the public to approach statements from all parties involved with caution and critical thinking.
