Congress Gains Access To Biden, Trump, And Pence Classified Docs

Reports on Tuesday indicate that key members of Congress have been granted access to classified documents connected to President Joe Biden, former President Donald Trump, and former Vice President Mike Pence found at various locations. The Biden administration started revealing the records to the “Gang of Eight,” including House and Senate leaders and top members of the intelligence committees of both chambers. The lawmakers had previously been briefed on the documents but expressed dissatisfaction with the opacity that hampered their ability to achieve oversight. Senate Intelligence Chairman Mark Warner and Vice Chairman Marco Rubio, two members of the Gang of Eight, have particularly spoken out about their concerns regarding national security. Both Biden’s and Trump’s handling of confidential records is under scrutiny by two separate special counsels, after FBI agents confiscated more than 100 classified documents stored at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, while Biden’s legal team and the FBI have discovered more materials of interest in searches conducted at Biden’s home in Delaware and his beach house in Rehoboth. Furthermore, records designated as classified were also found at Pence’s Indiana residence. The National Archives, which is tasked with taking custody of presidential and vice-presidential records at the conclusion of an administration, issued a warning to other former presidents and vice presidents to double-check for confidential documents following this discovery. Several of the materials discovered at locations connected to Biden, dating back to his tenure as a senator, were among the records.
