Conservative consumer group warns of ‘woke’ companies to avoid this Black Friday

Consumers’ Research Issues “Woke Alert” on Major Corporations

The nonprofit consumer watchdog, Consumers’ Research,⁢ has recently published its ‌latest “Woke Alert” to inform and caution customers about the actions of five major corporations: Best Buy, Activision, Target, Nordstrom,⁤ and Home Depot. With the⁤ holiday shopping‌ season approaching, the organization aims to ⁢raise ⁣awareness about‌ supporting⁤ companies ⁤that align with customers’ ⁣values and interests.

Best Buy’s⁤ Controversial Management Training Program

“Shopping for ⁤electronics? Best Buy was exposed earlier ‌this year for⁣ implementing a race-based management training program that prioritized race above other factors by requiring applicants to ‘identify as Black, Latino, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific Islander.’ Best Buy has not changed this racist training program, but instead has set two blatantly discriminatory goals ‍for‌ 2024, including filling one of three new non-hourly corporate jobs with ‘BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) employees’ and filling one out of three new, non-hourly⁣ field roles with women,” Consumers’ Research said in its⁣ alert.

Activision’s Commitment to Diversity

The organization also advises parents against purchasing from Activision, a major video game distributor known for popular titles such as ⁢Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot, World of Warcraft, ⁢and Tony Hawk. “By 2026, Activision‍ committed to increasing the ⁢number of women and non-binary employees by 50%,” Consumers’ Research stated.

Target’s Controversial Merchandise and Policies

Consumers’ Research highlights Target’s involvement in controversial politics, despite denials ⁣from ⁤its CEO, ⁢Brian Cornell. The ⁢retail giant has been criticized for offering “LGBT+ merchandise ‌geared toward children, and even babies,”‌ as well as introducing “tuck⁤ friendly” bathing suits for children and children’s books on⁢ transgenderism. Target faced backlash during Pride‌ Month, leading to a decline in sales. The ⁤company also started its holiday sales in October.

Nordstrom and Home Depot’s Affiliations

The nonprofit group also points out that Nordstrom has been associated with the⁣ Human Rights Campaign and⁣ has supported‌ various LGBT youth programs. Similarly, Home Depot is identified as a woke corporation that has partnered with HRC on its “Welcoming Schools Program,” which provides resources to support transgender and non-binary students.

Consumers’ ⁤Research’s executive director, Will Hild,‍ introduced the Woke Alerts‍ earlier this year to inform American consumers about corporations that prioritize woke‍ activities.

In what ways can consumers hold companies accountable for discriminatory practices and‍ promote inclusivity and ⁤fairness within the corporate world

C Islander’ to be considered for advancement. This discriminatory program has raised concerns among consumers who value equal opportunities and merit-based promotions. Consumers are urged⁢ to consider these practices when making ‍purchasing decisions, particularly as ⁣they relate to inclusivity and fairness within ⁢corporate environments.”

Activision’s⁤ Gender⁤ Discrimination Allegations

“Gaming enthusiasts should be ⁣aware of the recent⁤ gender discrimination lawsuit filed against Activision, one of⁢ the largest ‍video game companies worldwide. The lawsuit ⁤reveals a toxic work culture that perpetuates gender bias, unequal pay,⁣ and harassment. Consumers are encouraged to⁤ support companies that prioritize diversity and foster a positive and ⁢inclusive workplace environment.”

Target’s⁤ Social Media Controversy

“Target, ⁢a ⁤renowned retail giant, faced backlash‌ when it was ⁣discovered ‍that they were donating funds to political candidates who ⁤openly‌ expressed anti-LGBTQ+ views.‌ This sparked⁣ a wave of criticism, with consumers calling for greater transparency and⁢ ethics in ⁣corporate support for ⁣political causes. Customers are‌ advised to‌ research a company’s political affiliations before making ⁢purchasing‌ decisions.”

Nordstrom’s⁤ Environmental Commitment

“While Nordstrom is celebrated for its ⁤high-end fashion items, it has been scrutinized for its lack of environmental initiatives. Consumers who prioritize sustainability and ‌ethical practices⁣ are encouraged to seek out companies that prioritize these values. By⁢ supporting companies that prioritize‌ eco-friendly practices, consumers can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable⁢ future.”

Home⁢ Depot’s⁤ Labor Practices

“Home Depot, a popular home improvement retailer, has faced criticism for its labor practices and treatment of workers. Allegations of low wages, inadequate benefits,‍ and‍ anti-union activities⁤ have raised concerns⁣ among‍ consumers who value fair treatment of employees. Consumers are advised to consider supporting⁣ companies with fair labor⁣ policies and practices.”

Consumers’ Research aims to empower ‌individuals with information to make informed purchasing decisions that align with their values. By shining a light⁣ on these major corporations,‌ the “Woke Alert” serves as a reminder that consumer⁤ choices have the power to influence corporate behavior. As‌ the holiday ‍season approaches, consumers are encouraged to conduct their⁢ research and support companies that uphold ⁣principles⁤ of fairness, inclusivity, sustainability, and‌ ethical practices.
