Conservative group campaigns against immigration program – Washington Examiner
A conservative nonprofit association, Building AmericaS Future, has launched an advertising campaign criticizing teh 340B drug pricing program, which it claims subsidizes healthcare for illegal immigrants and gender transition procedures for minors. This campaign is part of a broader effort aligned with President Donald Trump’s immigration policy and opposition to certain healthcare expansions. The ad, titled “Sabotage,” features Trump highlighting his views on gender and immigration, encouraging state Republicans not to support the expansion of the 340B program in states like utah, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Kentucky, where legislation on this issue is pending. The group argues that the program undermines Trump’s agenda by providing taxpayer-funded support for services they oppose. The campaign reflects ongoing tensions around healthcare policy and immigration in conservative politics.
Conservative group argues 340B subsidizes trans procedures and migrants in new ad
EXCLUSIVE — A conservative nonprofit organization is seizing on President Donald Trump‘s crackdown on illegal immigration and his efforts to limit gender surgeries for minors with a new ad buy targeting state Republicans over taxpayer-subsidized healthcare.
Building America’s Future launched a five-figure multistate cable and podcast campaign urging GOP leaders not to support the expansion of the 340B program in their states.
The 340B program, often the subject of expensive lobbying in Washington, D.C., requires drugmakers to provide discounts to eligible hospitals to help serve low-income and uninsured patients. It also helps clinicians provide affordable healthcare for those seeking hormonal therapy and gender reassignment surgery, as well as provide healthcare for migrants in the United States illegally, the conservative group argues with the new ad.
A 30-second ad, “Sabotage,” released by Building America’s Future on Tuesday and first seen by the Washington Examiner, features Trump declaring there are only two genders and a national emergency at the southern border during his inauguration last week.
“President Trump is taking our country back,” a narrator in the ad says. “But an out-of-control government program, 340B, is secretly sabotaging his agenda. This federal program subsidizes healthcare for illegal aliens and gender transitions for kids. Tell state Republicans to support Trump’s agenda. Stop the expansion of 340B.”
The ad is set to run in Utah, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Kentucky, all states that have pending legislation on the 340B program that would expand the federal version of the program.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) rejected a version of the legislation in the Old Dominion last year, claiming he was “deeply concerned about the federal 340B program and how it could be exploited to provide taxpayer-subsidized healthcare to illegal immigrants.”
Trump issued several executive orders curbing illegal immigration, including a controversial attempt to end birthright citizenship, and tamping down on transgender liberties after he was inaugurated last Monday.
He is set to sign the Laken Riley Act, another bill that tamps down on illegal immigration, into law on Wednesday.
