Conservatives urge Disney boycott due to gender-fluid clothing ad.
The Walt Disney Company Partners with Gender-Fluid Influencer for Minnie Mouse-Inspired Clothing Ad
The Walt Disney Company has teamed up with an influential figure who identifies as gender-fluid to create a captivating clothing advertisement. The ad, featured on TikTok, showcases how to dress like the beloved character Minnie Mouse.
Seann Altman, who prefers he/him pronouns and dresses in women’s clothing, was prominently featured on the Disney Style social media page. This platform focuses on fashion inspired by Disney characters.
“I literally look like Minnie Mouse, and I fit in perfectly with Mickey and his friends,” exclaimed Altman in the video. “The bow, the dress, and the shoes really sealed the deal. Now I’m fashionable, bold, and fun, just like Minnie Mouse!”
Altman expressed a deep connection with Minnie Mouse, stating that out of all the characters in Mickey Mouse’s circle, Minnie Mouse is the one who resonates with him the most.
However, the ad has faced criticism from conservatives online, with some even calling for a boycott of Disney. This backlash coincides with Disney’s recent financial struggles, including underperforming movies and declining attendance at its theme parks.
Interestingly, this partnership with Altman follows a similar collaboration between transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light, owned by Anheuser-Busch. Since that partnership, Anheuser-Busch has experienced significant financial setbacks, reporting a loss of nearly $400 million in the second quarter.
In a surprising move, Anheuser-Busch recently announced the sale of eight of its labels to Tilray Brands, a cannabis company based in New York City. The labels being sold include Shock Top, Breckenridge Brewery, Blue Point Brewing Company, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Redhook Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewing, Square Mile Cider Company, and HiBall Energy.
The Washington Examiner reached out to the Walt Disney Company for comment on the matter.
