Country music icon claims Aldean’s song irks liberals: ‘Freedom is untouchable’

Singer Lee Greenwood Defends Jason Aldean’s Song as a Call to Small-Town Values

Singer and songwriter Lee Greenwood has come to the defense‌ of Jason Aldean’s song and music video, “Try That In A Small Town,” amidst criticism from the left. According to Greenwood, the art is a powerful reminder of the importance of small-town values in preserving freedom.

“I am a Jason Aldean fan. He is the biggest patriot, like a lot of⁢ us. It has nothing to do with racism,” Greenwood told Jesse Watters Primetime. “This is about people trying to take away the freedom of expression. It is a great song. I wish I ‍had ‍it.”

Greenwood further emphasized the significance of the ⁤song’s message, stating, “When the video was first promoted, you had to listen to the lyrics of the song first before you looked at the video. It’s about a small-town flavor. I am from a small town in California, ⁢and you know what? People cannot take our freedom away because people know everybody in a small⁤ town. That’s what the ⁢heart ⁤of America is,⁤ is rural America. You can’t ⁢take freedom away.”

Despite the controversy surrounding the music video, Aldean is set to perform for ‍the victims’ families and community affected by the Covenant School⁣ shooting in Nashville. While some have called for Aldean to step⁢ away ⁤from the benefit concert in August, Greenwood⁣ expressed his full‍ support for the singer.

Greenwood also pointed out‌ that the song’s lyrics do⁢ not mention guns and ⁤criticized attacks on the Second ‍Amendment ‍as unwarranted.

“When you talk ⁣about having guns and having them‍ in your home for defense,⁢ it’s not about an offensive weapon. It’s about hunting. It’s about having the right to have the gun. And the people that are on the other side of that,‍ you know — it’s the idiots that take to the street and kill other people,” Greenwood said. “We are sympathetic to the people who died. Our hearts⁣ go out to those people who have been killed by guns, but‌ it is the ⁤people⁣ who kill with‌ the gun; it is not the gun itself. I am so sorry that they put the Second Amendment first when ⁤they⁣ see a tragedy like ‍that. I am grateful for Jason Aldean and what he is about to do.”

Greenwood also highlighted that⁢ liberals’ push for stricter gun control is an attempt ⁤to “take away our freedom.”

“You ⁣know, it’s precious,” he added. “And when I talk about freedom, I talk about the⁤ military that have died for our freedom. Let’s not get entangled about what the song says because the song doesn’t say anything except for the fact we take care of each other in a‌ small town. That’s all. It’s really simple.”
