Country star Tyler Hubbard says ‘intentional’ fatherhood is worth prioritizing

Country music star Tyler Hubbard said the importance of fatherhood is just as important to his life as his career in music.

The musician reflected on how he and his former bandmate, Brian Kelley, opted to go solo several years ago, and has since released almost two dozen songs to hit #1 on country radio. In the midst of this, he has balanced his career life with his family life, which he called “a constant balancing act.”

“And right now, I’m in a beautiful season of life with a lot of great things going on,” Hubbard said on Fox News’s One Nation with Brian Kilmeade. “But that requires a lot of being intentional and a lot of balancing between my wife, my three kids, my career, my songwriting. Fortunately, I have a great team to help me kind of juggle it all.”

Hubbard concluded that while he’s had to take some “late-night flights” to make it to his children’s graduation ceremonies, it is worth being able to make it to these events. He added that he prioritizes his family life just as much as his professional one.

Polling data ahead of the 2024 election indicates most supporters of former President Donald Trump see the importance of family. About 59% of Trump supporters surveyed said that society is better off when family and marriage are prioritized, compared to 19% of President Joe Biden supporters in the survey.

Hubbard’s first song to hit #1 on country radio was “5 Foot 9,” which is about his wife and has almost 24 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded in 2022. He joked that his wife is actually 5’10, but that “5’10” did not flow as well musically as “5 Foot 9.”

The musician’s arm features a tattoo of his father, who died when he was just 20 years old. While he was not seriously working in the music industry at the time, he had been writing songs — something Hubbard said his father was a fan of.

Hubbard will begin a music world tour this month, “Strong World Tour,” named after his album “Strong,” released earlier this year. The tour’s first stop, in Canandaigua, New York, is set for Aug. 15, and will conclude in Nashville, Tennessee, on Nov. 21.
