Scott Stapp: Triumphant Return with New Solo Music and Tour
Scott Stapp is set to captivate his fans with an upcoming album release and a tour, marking a resilient comeback after overcoming substance abuse and a widely publicized meltdown ten years back.
At 50, this iconic vocalist earned his fame in the late ’90s and early 2000s with Creed’s string of three multi-platinum albums. The band’s journey has been a rollercoaster, with breakups and reunions, the latest being in 2023.
Open about his mental health, addiction battles, and brushes with suicide, Stapp’s 2015 revelation of his bipolar disorder brought him relief and understanding of his past struggles.
“In 2014, Stapp experienced a harrowing psychotic break. A disturbing video surfaced online with Stapp claiming he was broke and living out of his truck. Frantic 911 calls followed, fueled by delusions of assassination attempts by family and threats against then-President Obama.”
Creating Music: Stapp’s Lifeline
Today, Stapp regards music creation as his life’s calling, his anchor through tumultuous seas.
“During the last four years, life hit me hard,” Stapp shared with People. “I’m taking it step by step – chipping away gradually and starting anew each day. Despite the chaos, there’s a positive vibe.”
- “Driven to create, I can’t help but fill the void if it’s not with Creed. My artistry, my creative essence needs release, and music is how I express it.”
His upcoming solo record, “Higher Power,” debuts this Friday, with Creed set to rock cruise festivals and a stateside tour come fall.
Stapp also touched on his tough childhood and reliance on faith, emphasizing the role of spirituality in his journey.

Reflecting on his youth, Stapp confided, “No father to speak of, just a longing heart and a late-working single mom. Today, it’s the ups, downs, and all that my life has encompassed. Keeping my faith central, everything aligns. Occasionally, I ponder, ‘Why didn’t I realize this sooner?'”
