Crenshaw accused of threatening to ‘kill’ Tucker Carlson on hot mic – Washington Examiner
Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) found himself under fire following comments caught on a hot mic, suggesting he would “f***ing kill” conservative media figure Tucker Carlson if they ever met. This statement came after an interview on GB News and ignited meaningful backlash on social media after a video of the remarks circulated online, prompting Carlson to respond by inviting Crenshaw for an interview at his home. Critics, including other politicians and Elon Musk, expressed disapproval of Crenshaw’s threatening remarks, leading to further discussion about the ongoing feud between the two men, which has notably centered on their divergent views regarding U.S. support for Ukraine and perspectives on Israel’s actions against Hamas. The exchange reflects broader tensions within the republican Party and raises questions about political rhetoric and accountability.
Dan Crenshaw accused of threatening to ‘kill’ Tucker Carlson on hot mic
Comments from Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) about conservative media personality Tucker Carlson have taken the internet by storm.
On Monday evening, a video posted to X appeared to show Crenshaw saying he would “f***ing kill” Carlson if the two men ever met. The original video later appeared to have been deleted from the web, but not before it was widely shared, sparking backlash against the Texas congressman.
The Texas lawmaker’s comments were caught on a hot mic after he finished an interview with GB News. The interviewer pressed Crenshaw on whether he had ever met Carlson in person, to which the congressman indicated that while they have had exchanges on social media, they have not had an in-person encounter.
“We’ve talked a lot on Twitter,” Crenshaw said, before appearing to add, “If I ever meet him, I’ll f***ing kill him. I’m not joking. He’s the worst person.”
Crenshaw’s remarks garnered an immediate response from social media users. Carlson himself swiftly highlighted the video on his Instagram and X accounts and dared the lawmaker to show up at his home.
“Why don’t you come sit for an interview and we’ll see how you do? I’ll send you my address, @DanCrenshawTX,” Carlson responded.
Others, such as Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), piled on Crenshaw, while X founder Elon Musk questioned, “Why is Crenshaw homicidal regarding Tucker?”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) asked Crenshaw whether he had threatened to kill her friend, to which he responded, “lol, no.”
The controversy marks the latest saga in a feud between Crenshaw and Carlson that has simmered for years.
The two men have prominently feuded over Crenshaw’s support for helping the United States supply funding to Ukraine for its war against Russia. Carlson has labeled the congressman a pro-war “neocon,” while Crenshaw believes his foe to be an apologist for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Why do the reddest states produce the dumbest, most liberal Republicans? Why aren’t [Republican Texas Sen.] John Cornyn and Dan Crenshaw bagging groceries at Walmart? Jesse Kelly has thought about this,” Carlson said in April 2024.
Crenshaw shot back, “Why aren’t you bagging groceries in Moscow?”
The two men have also differed over Israel’s war against Hamas. Crenshaw unequivocally supports Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s offensive against the terrorist group. Carlson has in the past condemned Israel’s bombardment in Gaza and suggested the war has come at the cost of Christians living in Gaza who have been killed during the fighting.
“If you’re intentionally killing civilians, you probably shouldn’t beat your chest and brag about it. … Maybe you can make the case that you had to do it, but you should weep,” Carlson said during an interview with Piers Morgan earlier this month.
But it was when Carlson suggested last April that Netanyahu’s government might be mistreating Christians in Israel that Crenshaw exploded.
“This nonsense about Christian mistreatment in Israel is just the latest example,” Crenshaw said. “Tucker will eventually fade into nothingness because his veneer of faux intellectualism is quickly falling apart and revealing who he truly is: a cowardly, know-nothing elitist who is full of s***.”
In January 2023, another such battle sparked when Crenshaw suggested lawmakers who didn’t back then-Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s bid for House speaker were “terrorists,” “narcissists,” and “enemies.”

Carlson said the lawmaker’s comments revealed that he was “the snarling face of the donor class revealed for all to see.
“The deep loathing of disobedient voters that may be their most passionate secret emotion. But they’re not bothering to hide that emotion anymore. Now you know how they really feel,” he said.
