Damar Hamlin Gives Odd Response When Asked Why Doctors Say His Heart Stopped
Buffalo Bills Cornerback Damar Hamlin will be making his public appearances after suffering a near-fatal heart attack on the field on January 2. This week, he spent some time with Michael Strahan. Good Morning America When asked about what happened that night, he gave a bizarre answer.
Hamlin’s cardiac arrest happened seconds after he made a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. He appeared to have emerged from the play unharmed. He quickly fell to the turf.
Initial thought was that he had been injured by the contact. It was much worse. It was even more frightening for Hamlin and everyone else.
The second-year player was motionless for several minutes as the Monday Night Football announce team wasn’t exactly sure what to make of all of it.
The unprecedented move of the NFL It was inevitable that the game would be cancelled. However, everyone involved in the league was left with many questions. It took football’s focus off of it.

The only football question that might need to be resolved is the home-field advantage during the postseason.
Both of the teams involved in the MNF game – the Bills and Bengals – were playoff teams. The NFL issued a statement, saying the decision was “difficult, but necessary” Below the “extraordinary circumstances”
It could have had consequences later. The way things fell, it didn’t come into play, however.
Damar Hamlin was quizzed about the cause of his cardiac arrest. He gave a bizarre answer.
Good Morning America hosts Michael Strahan When asked whether Hamlin can remember standing up after making the hit he took a long time to pause before giving a cryptic reply.
“Umm… that’s something I don’t really want to get into deep into, in the details of.”
This is a truly bizarre response that could be taken to mean many things. He may feel some sort of superstition or he might not want to talk about it. Perhaps doesn’t want to ‘jinx’ himself, or maybe he just can’t talk for legal reasons. There’s been no word of any civil action being filed by Hamlin or the Bills, so the latter seems unlikely. That could change, however.
Hamlin avoided most of the medical questions and he emphasized his team and those who have supported him throughout this experience.
Strahan asked me this question. “How did the doctor describe what happened to you?” Hamlin replied, “That’s something I want to stay away from.”
The interview went well for the most part. Hamlin expressed gratitude and relief that he was able to move on with his life. He says it’s something that he definitely didn’t see coming and is still trying to mentally unpack.
“It’s something I am still processing. It’s something that I am still trying to work through,” Hamlin stated.
At Super Bowl LVII, Hamlin was honored by the NFL. He was recognized by the NFL at Super Bowl LVII in a special ceremony.
