Dan Crenshaw a No on “Strongest Border Security Package Ever” Claiming It Doesn’t Do Enough to Fight Cartels
Rep. Crenshaw Takes a Stand Against GOP Border Legislation That Fails to Address Cartels
EXCLUSIVE — In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) made it clear that he will not be supporting the “strongest border security package” that Congress has ever considered. The reason? The legislation fails to address the critical issue of Mexican drug cartels.
Cartels Remain Unaddressed in GOP Border Bill
Crenshaw expressed his disappointment with the bill, stating, “I cannot take a border bill seriously that doesn’t address the cartels. The people who have operational control of the border, the people who are killing 80,000 Americans a year by trafficking fentanyl through the border, are completely unaddressed in this bill.”
While the bill does include a provision requesting that the Biden administration conduct a study on designating the cartels as terrorist organizations, Crenshaw believes this is a “terrible idea” that would only worsen the immigration crisis.
Working Towards a Solution
Crenshaw is not alone in his opposition to the bill, and he believes that with a few easy changes, they can reach an agreement. He suggests inserting existing legislation that would provide for bigger penalties for cartels and going after their finances and those who aid and abet them.
Despite his frustration with GOP leadership, Crenshaw remains optimistic that they can work together to address the issue of cartels in the border bill. “We’ll get to yes,” he says.
Standing Up for What’s Right
Crenshaw’s stance on the GOP border bill demonstrates his commitment to doing what’s right for the American people. He refuses to support legislation that fails to address a critical issue that affects the safety and well-being of countless Americans.
As Crenshaw continues to fight for solutions to the border crisis, he remains a voice of reason and integrity in Congress.
