People Call for Boycott of Dave & Buster’s Over Sponsorship of Children’s Drag Show
Online outrage is brewing as people are calling for a boycott of the restaurant and entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s. The controversy stems from the company’s apparent sponsorship of an LGBT event that will feature a children’s drag show.
The Instagram account Yournewpride, which promotes “Northeastern Wisconsin’s largest pride event!”, posted an image on August 2 that included the Dave & Buster’s logo. The post announced the event on September 23 at the Brown County Fair Grounds, featuring four drag shows, three bands, and more.
Of particular concern is the one-hour and 15-minute “Youth Entertainers (Drag Show)” listed on the schedule. Dave & Buster’s is identified as the event’s “bar sponsor.”

The event is set to take place at the fairgrounds in De Pere, Wisconsin, just south of Green Bay. The schedule image is also featured on the Yournewpride website, but it refers to the drag show as “Up and Coming” instead of “Youth Entertainers.” Additionally, the Dave & Buster’s logo is absent from the website version.
The controversy gained further attention when the popular social media page Libs of TikTok shared the Instagram image and tagged Dave & Buster’s account. Outraged commenters called for a boycott of the chain.

As of Monday morning, Dave & Buster’s had not responded to the Libs of TikTok post, and its role in the event remains unconfirmed. The Western Journal reached out to the company for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
According to its website, the Dallas-based chain has over 140 locations and has previously hosted LGBT “pride” parties at some of its venues, as mentioned on its Facebook page.
