The CEO of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, has made a bold announcement regarding his hiring practices. He has declared that he will not consider applicants who attended prestigious universities such as Harvard, MIT, and Penn.
This decision comes in response to the recent congressional testimony from the presidents of these universities, who defended their students’ participation in anti-Semitic demonstrations on campus, citing it as an exercise of free speech.
“This video has made me so irate I need to make sure as many people see it as possible,” the 46-year-old wrote on Instagram.
“The Deans of three supposedly prestigious Universities in the United States somehow refusing to condemn students calling for the Genocide of Jews on campus. AKA – the murder of all Jews. Newsflash that is calling for the murder of myself, my parents and my entire family. And these ‘leaders’ refuse to condemn this as hate speech on their campuses?
“This isn’t debating whether there should be a cease fire or discussing the future of Israel and Palestine in the Middle East. This is calling for the MURDER OF ALL JEWS everywhere and these absolute coward school administrators refuse to condemn it,” he concluded.
Additionally, Portnoy claimed that Jewish students are the only minority group that other students could openly intimidate and chant that they want to murder an entire group of people and not get kicked out immediately or better yet thrown in jail.”
“At this rate we’re one step away from the Ivy Leagues offering courses on how 9/11 was actually the Jews (sic) fault,” the Michigan alumnus wrote.
“Not that this will make a huge difference but moving forward I will not hire any student who graduates from any of these schools until these Deans step down,” Portnoy wrote, noting he would not make exceptions for Jewish applicants from the institutions.
This comes after anti-Semitic demonstrations have been taking place at these campuses.
At Harvard, over 30 student groups signed a letter blaming Israel for the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7th, causing donors to pull their support from the school.
“This is unacceptable on every single level,” Portnoy wrote. “I don’t care if you’re Jewish or not either. If you know a Jew (sic) or just have a degree of basic human decency calling for the murder of an entire group of people should outrage you.”

How has Dave Portnoy’s decision to impose a hiring ban been received by the public, and what are the potential implications for affected individuals and the broader discussion on free speech in academic environments
Title: Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy Declares Hiring Ban on Applicants from Prestigious Universities
Introduction:
In a controversial move, Dave Portnoy, the CEO of Barstool Sports, has announced a significant change in his company’s hiring policy. Portnoy’s statement comes as a response to recent congressional testimonies from the presidents of prestigious universities defending their students’ participation in anti-Semitic demonstrations on campus.
University Presidents Defend Anti-Semitic Demonstrations:
During the congressional hearings, the leaders of renowned educational institutions, including Harvard, MIT, and Penn, justified their students’ engagement in anti-Semitic acts as an exercise of free speech. The testimony sparked outrage and raised concerns about campus safety and the tolerance of hate speech.
Portnoy’s Reaction:
Reacting to the congressionally examined issue, Portnoy took to social media to express his strong opposition. The CEO posted a video on Instagram expressing his anger towards the university presidents and the lack of condemnation for the students’ actions, which called for the genocide of Jews.
Portnoy’s Hiring Ban:
In response to the testimonies, Portnoy announced that Barstool Sports will no longer consider applicants who graduated from prestigious universities involved in the controversy. This decision reflects Portnoy’s dissatisfaction with the inability of these institutions’ leadership to condemn hate speech and protect the safety of their students. Portnoy further emphasized that he would not make exceptions for Jewish applicants from these institutions.
Portnoy’s Concerns:
Portnoy highlighted the unique vulnerability of Jewish students as a minority group on campuses, where they are openly intimidated and threatened without immediate repercussions. He stressed that such behavior would not be tolerated towards any other group of people and expressed concerns about the universities potentially tolerating or promoting anti-Semitic sentiments.
The Impact of Portnoy’s Decision:
Portnoy’s declaration has drawn mixed reactions from the public. While some commend his stance against hate speech and his commitment to protecting his employees, others criticize his decision as potentially unfair to individuals who may have attended these universities but do not support or engage in such actions.
Conclusion:
Dave Portnoy’s decision to impose a hiring ban on applicants from prestigious universities involved in the recent controversy highlights his strong stance against hate speech and the lack of condemnation from university leaders. The move sparks a debate on the responsibility of educational institutions to address and condemn acts of hatred on their campuses. Portnoy’s decision also raises questions about the potential impact on affected individuals and the broader discussion on free speech in academic environments.
